Announcenments / Version 0.6.2
January 07, 2012, 05:35:58 PM
It's been a while since I updated CentrED. There was a private interim release which already addressed some tickets from the tracker and now it's the time to make it public.

The most important change is probably the support for the new Tiledata from the High Seas expansion. Here is the full list of changes:

  • Added random pool for hues
  • Added more infos to the account list (for admins)
  • Added sorting to account list
  • Fixed possible crash with light sources enabled
  • Added support for new tiledata from High Seas expansion
Have fun!

I'll see what I can do. Thanks for pointing out the change in tiledata :)

In your initial post you specified the data paths as "C:\Users\...\data1\...". CentrED changes these files, right there. So you have to make sure, that RunUO has a copy of these files, and that your UO Client has a copy of these files. (And also each player that connects to your shard.)

Did you copy the map files to your client(s) too? (Game-) Client and (Game-) Server need to have the same files.

The paths have to include the filename, not just the directory.

Sure. If you have admin rights on that server, just go to the Admin menu --> Large Scale Commands. There you can transform the whole map at once if you want.

That area was probably created with newer data files (tiledata.mul, animdata.mul and art[idx].mul). The newer versions of these files allow for more tile IDs, and CentrED adjusts to that. The server should however limit this, so I'll still have to check on that. But anyway: check if the other builder was using newer files and if so, update yours. Hope that helps :)

The drivers for your graphics card could be a problem. Since CentrED uses OpenGL, the drivers need to ship a "good" OpenGL implementation, otherwise Windows will map OpenGL onto DirectX (which could probably be pretty slow). That's the only thing I can imagine right now that would explain these problems, given the pretty high hardware specs.

Verdata.mul is pretty dead; the UO client doesn't support that file for several years now. So you have to modify art.mul (and/or artidx.mul) and tiledata.mul

That's not really possible. The statics file doesn't contain information about light sources, only the tiledata does. So you would need to create "dummy" items (that have an invisible art) and a corresponding lightsource defined in the tiledata. All in all I would recommend to just place lightsources on your server and keep them non-static. That allows for far more customizability with a lot less trouble.

You can download a little batch file from here: http://aksdb.de/board/index.php?topic=221.msg787#msg787
Put that where your cedserver.exe is and run it. That bat file will launch cedserver, but keep the console window open when it exists, so you can see the error message. If that message doesn't help you, just post it here (rightclick the title of that console window and select Edit --> Select, then select everything and hit Enter) and I will see if I can help you :)

Well, welcome back in the UO community I guess ;-)

I still develop CentrED from time to time, as you can see in the activity overview. I just don't/can't spend too much time on it. If you have specific requests/ideas, I'm open for suggestions. You may also enter them directly in the bug/feature tracker.

You have to use statics for the ground of the cave. There can always only be one map tile per x, y coordinate.

Indeed, one has to read the CentrED page up to that point: http://redmine.aksdb.de/projects/centred/wiki#Support :D
