General / Re: I use CentrED!

Well, I'm glad that you are still around! I'll post up something into the tracker here as soon as we run into something that we figure needs to be worked on.

I guess a feature to add would be the possibility of having lists for your items. Such as the ability to put all rocks into a Rock Category, then all walls into a Walls, etc. Would make it easier to find objects, instead of trying to use that long huge one list.

General / I use CentrED!

Heya Hitman!

Just to drop a line in here after so long...

I am currently actively using CentrED. Recently I have decided to go back to UO, after taking a much needed long break from it. So, I was dusting off my server when I extracted my CentrED files. I can log in, edit, and find it is working great! I notice that there isn't a new version other than 6.1 that I was using last summer before I took my break. Do you have plans to continue development? Only reason I ask, is this is a fantastic product and this is one of those rare gems for UO customization.

Anyhow, I wish that you find the time somewhere in your life to be able to continue with this project. As I plan to be using your map editor to edit all the different UO maps. I have already figured out a way.  ;D

I also send you my best wishes and wish you a great day!

Support / Re: CedServer closes after config generation
August 17, 2010, 08:49:25 PM
I would just like to say, I thought that I was using an ML map, and for some reason it seems that my sizing was incorrect. Once I fixed the size of the map, the server loaded up fine and I was happily editing away. Also don't run UO or any tool that uses the same .mul files. I run the CentrED server with it's own set of .mul files. This way I can be sure that there are no conflicts.

Well, we love the tool. It has helped us leaps and bounds in developing our custom world. Without this tool our world would on be a dream.

Thanks again! Anyone who wants to take that banner and use it on their site, go right ahead and put it up. I have no problem with people spreading the word about CentrED.

Hello Hitman,

If you go to http://www.demuria.com, I put up a banner for CentrED. Is it okay if I display my support for this program? I enjoy this project and wanted to make sure that you get more exposure for your tool. Let me know if you want me to remove the small banner.

Bugs / Client 4.0 Bugs...
September 12, 2008, 03:37:44 AM
Heya Dev Team,

Here are some bugs that we found with your 4.0 client, not sure if you found them or fixed them as I don't see them listed. So here they are:

Items found by using the filter - and keeping the filter on while selecting them can crash the program with an access violation error.
Searching items with the filter but deleting the filter will not crash it. Scrolling down to the item to select it will not crash it.

Filter Slide - Using the increment up and down by one does not. After using the up/down and then you touch the slide again, the number reverts back to the last number actually slid to. ie- slide to 40. Press up button till you see 50 (it is not clipping) click the slide again and the number drops back to 40. But I think you addressed this already Hitman.

When changing color and scrolling down to search - on the old version if your mouse slipped you could click again and it would still be at the last scrolled place even though the color was still set to 0 (So you can continue your search for a color) the new version automatically places you to the last color actually set. A tad annoying.

Feature Requests / Re: My Feature Suggestions...

Thanks for the response Hitman. I would go and add some of those changes myself, but for the life of me I can't get Lazarus setup to be able to compile the tool. Sorry!

Feature Requests / My Feature Suggestions...
August 16, 2008, 05:43:19 AM
Here is a few feature requests that would help our building of our worlds that much more.

1) Items List: If it would be at all possible, is to be able to load an .xml file to allow us to create custom lists. You could then put the lists in a drop down box or something underneath the Filter box. This would then allow a builder to say pick a category called Walls, and all the walls would show up. Of course someone would have to populate the .xml file (which I can do), but it would speed up looking for that certain item.

2) Flush: As great as this is, it isn't really necessary as the server seems to save as you go anyways. What would be good, is if you hit "Flush", it would save the files into a directory of your choice that could be setup in the .ini. This way one could have automated backups and what not.

3) Selection Tool: It would be nice to be able to have a selection tool that would allow you to select a series of statics (such as a house), to allow us to move entire buildings around. As well as possibly allowing us to surgically delete sections of buildings, etc. Instead of doing it one tile at a time with the Cut tool.

4) Zoomable Radar/Large Scale Map: It would be nice to be able to zoom the radar map and the large scale commands map around. Would allow us to be able to select the correct area, or a more precise location to go to.

5) Pause Saving: Create a button that would tell the server to stop saving. That way any of the changes you make could be local. This way if you create something you don't like, you could in essence just "undo" it and start from when you paused the saving of the server.

That seems to be about it, as we use the tool and delve deep into it's functionality we will probably discover more. If you could respond Hitman, that would be fantastic, as I'm curious as to what you think about these features.

Development / Re: Getting To Compiling...

I guess now I'm running into a snag, I have to install that treeview package, and I can't seem to find one that installs correctly? Do you have a link to the exact virtualtree to install into Lazarus?

Thanks!

Well, I got those installed. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to get it to compile into the actual program. Is it similar to how C++ compilers work? Mostly just some pointers at getting it to compile now. Like I installed the Lazarus, Free Pascal, and have gotten the source code pulled down. Now I'm at that point where how to get the Lazarus to compile the code.

Well, I got the code downloaded to my computer. Got that Free Pascal stuff installed. Now I'm looking at how to load up the code into a project and compile it. Any detailed instructions?

Thanks a bunch.

Well I don't mind picking up the project. I've actually started the preliminary things to get the source code pulled down. Now to see if it works and then I'll go from there. I'm no expert but I'm willing to keep this project going.

I was dropping by the site here and was wondering if you had a new update from the last time I was here. Do you have any plans of releasing an update any time soon?

Thanks!
