Support / Access Violation on terrain raise/lower
July 27, 2010, 07:14:17 AM
Hi all,

It's been a while since my last visit but now one of my friends has a problem with CentrED 6.1.

When he tries to elevate or lower a terrain tile the app crashes with a access violation popup. Now we've scanned most of the topics here related to the problem and have ruled out the "old driver" thing. Even more interesting is the fact, that it's OK when the display is set to "flat" mode.... No other process is using the mapfiles. Any ideas ?

Land tiles cannot be removet - they have to be replaced with other land tiles. I.E. if you want to remove an island - draw water.

I think you should turn RunUO off and start the cedserver.exe. Or copy the needed gamefiles into a different folder and specify new filepaths in the ini.

I'm not really into the technical side od the whole thing - just a simple user ;D

And I used to run it on WinXP Dual Core 2.4 2GB Ram and had no problems at all... Right now I'm using it on my laptop - Vista, dual core 2.4, 4GB Ram - no problems here too.

I'm really out of ideas ... and I seem to be the only remaining active forum member (which sucks :|) Try PMing Hitman - he's the author so maybe he'll be able to figure out what's wrong.

Sorry for not helping much ;)

Guess not ;D

What machine is the server running on?

I tried opening the original map on my this weekend and it didn't lag too much, well within the limits of comfortable work.

At this point 0.4.1 is the newest - no updates :|

About the lag... what kind of map are you using? Was it changed by software such as radmapcopy. If so, try reading THIS TOPIC. There's a fix for statics there that could help you out.

Hi,

CentrED is now an open source project so it's not being developed by the author that much ;) some guys here do tamper with the code so once in a while we will have an update.

Regions AFAIK are restrictions for clients. The admin can restrict the area in which a specific client can work from the administration menu.

The insert statics large scale command allows one to spam the target area with statics - in order for it to work you have to drag and drop the statics from the main list into the large scale command list.

Hope this helps.

QuoteA word on MulBuilder, I add a lot of artwork to my client files and to be honest I prefer MulPatcher

Aye!

Though I think UOFiddler will - n the near future - replace mulpatcher.

As far as I know the verdata.mul is not used in CentrED - works only with art.mul

It's an open source project though, so I guess if you have some spare time and skills you could add that to the features.

Good luck.

Than I have no idea what could be wrong... post some screenshots, maybe that'll help.

I'd say you wrote the coordinates OK, but forgot to check the checkbox next to the "copy/move" command.

No large scale command will be executed if the checkbox next to it's name is unchecked.

If that is not the case - please post a little more info - what is the "target area"? What do you type in the "offset" boxes?

Feature Requests / Re: Z Display in Centred

If you implement it please do it with an on/off checkbox - the current display of Z values below the map view is sufficient for (probably) most simple users.

Bugs / Re: Client 4.0 Bugs...

Ok, had a little time in the morning so I made this //http://rapidshare.com/files/145387193/ced.7z.html

The server initializes a bit long (50s) but that's due to the recording software used.

However it's almost always like this (at least on my laptop and desktop PCs)

I'm don't think so - right now I'm fairly certain that it has something to do with the tile search and select more then the v-layer - it may well have been that I set up the layer and than searched for a specific tile when the whole thing crashed.

Tomorrow, when I get home from work I'll try and get some more info together.
