Title: Access Violation Help
Post by: Ekko on February 04, 2011, 04:34:52 AM
I am trying to run CentrED on the following.

Dell Inspiron 1524
32 bit
ATI Radeon X1270 Driver card

It throws the common Access Violation error any time I try to move or build, but not when I just delete stuff.
I saw the various remarks on it being due to driver cards, but I'm not certain what the best driver update would be to fix the issue.

Thanks!

go to support.dell.com
go to the Driver download section and find your computer model.
Download and install the graphics drivers.

I just installed CentrEd and my computer crashed with the same error, turns out it did not like something with my computers drivers.

I'm really baffled what the hell I'm doing wrong with OpenGL that some graphics drivers freak out. Unfortunately I only have access to NVidia cards, which all seem to be pretty faul-tolerant (regarding OpenGL). But I still hope that some more experienced OpenGL coder will show up one day, look at my code, and see what's the problem ... ;-)

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not positive that CentrED was what crashed my computer.... I wasn't actively using it at the time.

Regardless, a Driver update never hurts IMO.
